Let’s start with your gear. A paladin needs good gear to provide reasonable healing. Reasonable…
well, hey, great gear will help you hold your head high. Regarding dedication to your paladin healing abilities,
becoming a main healer in either PvP or PvE you’ll need to get into some other aspects, like paladin builds.

Your first target is the Holy tree. There are many different types of paladins, for
instance the shockadins, who are capable of doing a fair amount of Holy damage in the PvP arena. Yet, now a
days the retribution paladins out perform shockadin builds. So before you jump into the shockadin, look closer into
the retribution paladin.
Paladin healers or healadins, have excellent mana efficiency. There is a must-have for you to look
over in order to reap those good healing specs. What is it? That would be illumination. The reason for this is due
to the talent points of the paladin healers being less powerful than those of the paladin tanks or DPS. The good
news is there are plenty of healing builds to work with.

Backing up to the PvP healers… In the deadly environment of PvP, mana efficiency should be set aside as it is not
really as important as having high survivability so you can provide better healing for your teammates. Wearing
plate armor is something to work for as well as the self-protection abilities will make your paladins better
candidates for PvP healers.
Now let’s talk about the core talents of the PvE healadins. In no special order there are the
following: Holy Guidance, Judgements of the Pure, Light's Grace, Beacon of Light, Spiritual Focus, Illumination,
Holy Power, Divine Intellect, Healing Light, Sanctified Light, Improved Blessing of Wisdom, Divine Favor and Divine
Illumination. There are more, but that is enough to know for now.
Going further into the PvP healing builds you’ll find they are split between Divine Purpose in the
retribution tree and Beacon of Light in the holy tree. There are decisions to be made in this area though because
in this case it is a one or the other as you cannot select to obtain both. Divine Purpose builds provide a paladin
with more freedom from stuns and extra Critical Strike chance. Beacon of Light builds favor going into the
Protection tree for improving Guardian’s Favor and hammer of Justice as well as other non-healing tools.
